The Session at first glance is much smaller than the GoPros of the past. It basically a tiny plastic and rubber box that can record at 1080p at 60fps. Design

This is the only part of the Session that would ever be exposed to the elements. There are only a few more buttons on the device itself. There is a power button is on the top indicated with a red circle. Just below that is the LCD settings screen. When you depress the power button the Session immediately begins recording in whatever setting you had previously programmed and recorded with.
On the back of the camera lays the only other button and that one is the mode and settings button that you can easily cycle through the start-up settings to your chosen mode of recording. There are two LED lights that light up and blink to show that you are infact recording some type of video. One is on the top-right front corner and the other is at the bottom-right corner on the back. Both are very easy to see. Also on the bottom of the Session you will find our speaker/mic for recording sound.
Performance
That brings us to the actual recording quality of the GoPro Hero 4 Session. Many say that overall the find the video quality a bit subpar due to its more saturated and fuzzy recording quality when compared directly to its competition, the GoPro Hero 4 Silver. Another thing to consider is the battery life. Though it seems that the Session actually runs a touch longer than the full-size cameras it does have a drawback. The Session has a built-in battery that has to be plugged directly into a power source. Whereas the full-size cameras have replaceable batteries that can be switched out on the fly. The Session has to take a break from activities to recharge.
In the end we feel that your money is better spent with a different device such as the GoPro Hero 4 Silver. The Silver has better additional battery options and better picture quality. You can swap out the full case in the event you crack your lens protector. With the Session that’s just not an option as everything in built-in. They both retail for about the same price. In this case it just makes more sense to spend the same and get more for your money’s worth. However, if you’re looking for an additional angle type of camera that needs to fit into smaller laces for recording the Session is perfectly fit for those types of scenarios.
