It is no secret that Sony will be releasing its new PlayStation console late this year. If you are a big fan of Sony’s Signature console like we are, then you must want to know a few things about the highly anticipated device.
Here are a few things that you should know about the new PlayStation 5:
What is it?
PS5 or the PlayStation 5 is the next generation of the PlayStation console produced by Sony. The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to be released in late 2020 as the successor to Sony’s PlayStation 4 which has been the bestselling console for the past decade. Sony’s console is a great alternative to gaming laptops if you were to use them for gaming only.
PS5 Release Date
No specific date has been chosen yet by Sony for the release of their flagship console. However, according to the official information released by Sony, the PlayStation 5 is expected to be launched Holiday 2020. The Xbox Series X is scheduled to be released within the same period as the PlayStation 5.
PS4 was officially released for retail on November 15th in 2013, and PlayStation 5 is expected to be released around the same time.
PlayStation 5 Price
Just like the release date of PS5, not much is known about the final retail price of the PS5. However, there have been lots of speculation about what its price could be. Much of the success of the PlayStation 4 was grounded on the fact that it sold for less than the cost of the Xbox One at the time and it offered more exclusive games. The PlayStation 4 was sold for $399 at the time of its release which was $100 less than the Xbox One at the time.
According to the predictions of Hideki Yasuda, an ace Research Institute analyst, the PlayStation 5 is likely to launch for $499. This prediction and many others claim that the price bump is due to the addition of expensive components such as the DRAM and flash memory.
Sony, however, is yet to specify what the price for the PlayStation 5 is going to be just yet. According to the CFO of Sony; Hiroki Totoki, the price for PlayStation 5 has not been set yet because the company needs to balance affordability with profitability.
Specifications of PS5
The PlayStation 5 console is said to be powered by AMD’s third-generation CPU; the eight-core Ryzen processor. The GPU is also an AMD custom GPU based on the AMD Radeon Navi architecture. The new GPU is rumored to give the PS5 the ability to deliver raytracing and ultra-realistic lighting and shadow representation. Also, according to TFT central, with Nvidia opening up the Nvidia G-Sync technology to AMD CPUs, the PS5 is likely to support Nvidia G-Sync.
The PS5 is expected to deliver a performance that is comparable to that of Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and double that of the current Xbox One X. It is, therefore, expected that Sony’s PS5 would have to beat the 12 Teraflops of GPU power that the Xbox One X delivers. Another big new is that fact that PS5 will offer 3D audio for immersive gaming experience and visual output of 8K resolution.
The PlayStation 5 is expected to be a gaming superpower by the time it is released.
