The kind of laptops required in the business world are different from those used by gamers or content creators. While gamers and content creators want all the power that they can get from certain hardware, business laptop users want the best battery life, mobility, and good enough performance that they never have to worry about having too many spreadsheets open.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2020 is one of those business laptops built specifically to satisfy the needs of business laptop users. However, is the X1 Yoga 2020 the best business laptop on the market? Let’s find out.
Specifications
Laptop reviewed in this article comes with a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10510U, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB capacity SSD. This unit comes with a touch screen and an Active Pen at $2,668.
The major difference between the X1 Yoga 2020 and the X1 Yoga 2019 is the addition of the 10th Gen Intel processors and Wi-Fi 6 support. The 2019 model was labeled the best 2-in-1 business laptop of the year for business users. However, with so much competition on the horizon in 2020, the X1 Yoga 2020 might not hold the first position this year.
Display
The display on the reviewed version is a 14-inch 4K panel. The 4K panel offers the best picture quality among all of the configurations offered by Lenovo for the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2020. The 4K panel offers vivid colors and very sharp details.
The 1080p display has more realistic red tones than the 4K panel. The 4K panel has a more blood orange-red tone to it. The white balance on the 4K display is very accurate and delivers very convincing and punchy color tones. The 4K panel comes at the cost of slightly lower battery life than the configurations with the 1080p panel.
Battery
The battery life on the 1080p version is great lasting for about 11 hours and 30 minutes. It beats even the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which lasts for about 10 hours and 45 minutes. The 4K model with the UHD display lasts for a respectable 7 hours and 38. Web surfing was done on Wi-Fi.

Performance
In real-world testing scenarios, the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2020 is no slouch when it comes to performance, especially with its undervolted 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10610U and 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
According to Laptopmag.com, the X1 Yoga 2020 can open 25 Google Chrome tabs without any noticeable slowdowns. The Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2020 with the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor bests the performance of some of the best business laptops in the game like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon with a similar processor, and the Latitude 9410 2-in-1.
In video transcoding, the X1 Yoga 2020 lagged a little behind the X1 Carbon. The Intel Core i5 version of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon performed similarly to the X1 Yoga 2020.
The SSD put in the X1 Yoga is a fast one as it was able to convert 5GB of multimedia files in 5.2 seconds with a transfer rate of 978.7 mbps.
The Intel UHD graphics that comes with the 10th Gen Core i7 processor is good enough for casual gaming, and most of the programs needed to run on a business laptop. However, don’t expect to be doing any intensive 3D gaming on the X1 Yoga 2020.
Final Verdict
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2020 is very similar in many ways to its predecessor, the X1 Yoga 2019 version. The X1 Yoga 2020 offers slightly better performance over the last generation. Yet comes with all of the advantages of the last generation. Those include high-quality build, and rigidity, good battery life, and good performance.
The Yoga might not be the best, but it is one of the best business laptops on the market. If mobility, rigidity, good battery life, and good performance is your thing, then the ThinkPad X1 Yoga might be for you. We can suspect that many businesses will trade laptops for the new Yoga.
