Lenovo announced its new ThinkPad lineup earlier this year, and the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is undoubtedly the top of the bunch. The remarkable 2-in-1 laptop now holds the title of the slimmest ThinkPad ever, measuring only 0.45-inches.
To add to that, it has a lovely display, a 13.5-inch 2K touch screen with Dolby-vision image quality. However, it is not all rosy, as the laptop doesn’t have the best battery life.
We took a closer look at the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, and we were impressed with this business laptop.
Design
The selling point of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga’s design is the slim chassis. With a chassis measuring only 11.71 by 9.14 by 0.45-inch, it became the slimmest ThinkPad ever made. Despite this, it doesn’t have a weight that makes the headline, coming at 2.5-pound, which is the same weight as the X1 Carbon.
The titanium in the X1 Yoga’s name is not there only as a name; the laptop was built with titanium. It has a 360-degree hinge that helps to easily convert between the available modes (tablet, display, tent, and laptop modes).
Without a doubt, the X1 Titanium is the silkiest ThinkPad we have ever reviewed, but it doesn’t affect the sturdiness. One thing to note is that while the new model is the thinnest ThinkPad ever, it is not the lightest laptop.
Display
The display is a 13.5-inch screen that balances entertainment and productivity. The aspect ratio is 3:2, which means it is excellent when you view a document and a webpage at once, reducing scrolling.
The Dolby Vision support is excellent for the 2K 2256 by 1504 resolution. We enjoyed watching movies on the screen as the sRGB spectrum is 100%, and it has a peak brightness of 450 nits. The panel also does significantly at resisting glare.
Performance
An issue with thin laptops is how there is not much room to release heat, which affects performance. However, the ThinkPad’s cooling fan helps a lot, making it deliver outstanding performance. The cooling system performed well during use, and there was nothing like lags.
The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has a Core-i5 1130G7 CPU and the Iris Xe Graphics card, both from Intel. The CPU options available is up to the 11th Generation Tiger Lake that has the Evo approval. It has 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. When put through the test, the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga performed well among 2-in-1 laptops in its category.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard in the X1 Titanium is quite comfortable, despite how thin the laptop is. The travel is excellent, and the keys are quiet and soft while typing. While put through the typing test, we recorded a 94 percent accuracy at about 75 words per minute. This is slightly better than what we recorded while using the MacBook Pro.
The Yoga’s touchpad is not the widest, but it offers smooth navigation. There is a pointing stick located on the keyboard, a good option for those who like that method.
Connectivity
The connectivity on the laptop isn’t the most robust, as the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has a slim set of ports. The only options are two Thunderbolt-4 ports and the headphone jack. The excuse for this is how thin the laptop is. For more connectivity options, you are better off with the X1 Carbon, which is thicker.
Battery life
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga lasted for over 14 hours during our battery test. With that result, the ThinkPad can last a day for typical workflow after a full charge.
Final Verdict
There is a lot to like about the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga. It has a great display, and there is plenty of performance and power stored in that thin chassis. You can buy it after you trade old laptop for cash with us. You will be happy with the change.
The primary issue with the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is the pricing. For all of the awesomeness, the pricing is above what it offers. With users having to buy a connectivity hub, the cost of owning the laptop rises even further.
Asides from that, the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is a robust and highly functional 2-in-1 that will especially suit frequent travelers. The aspect ratio helps users to enjoy multitasking while the keyboard is quite comfortable. The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga offers a larger display without the weight that comes with 14-inch options.
