HP Elite Folio vs Surface Pro X: Choose Wisely

HP Spectre X2 Laptop and Tablet Right Side From AboveThe HP Elite Folio is a 2 in 1 tablet and laptop, and like the Microsoft, pro x runs on the Windows 10 ARM edition and CPU.  It easily converts from a laptop to a tablet depending on the angle you want to view it. In contrast, the Microsoft Surface Pro X tablet comes with a 13.00-inch touch-screen display with a resolution of 288ptop 0x1920 pixels at a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch.

The HP is a portable aluminum laptop that competes squarely with the Surface Pro X in design, display, performance, battery, connectivity, and ports.

It is one of the few premium laptops that can be considered executive, and creatives mostly use it. With its premium look and feel, it has a lot to offer.

Either one of these could become a best selling laptop in two in one market this year.

Design

The HP Folio has a distinctive feature instead of the surface pro x, although it copies the pen design from the Surface laptop. HP claims the Elite Folio pen has a time limit, and it won’t last for a long time without charging.

The HP is a premium laptop with superb usability and a sleek design. The Folio and the Pro X are excellent laptops, although some significant differences exist between them.

The folio is a one-of-a-kind two-way convertible EliteBook and comes in a subtle brown color lid and stitching with an HP logo in the center. This EliteBook convertible isn’t like the typical aluminum found on the surface pro x, but it has a nice overall look with flat edges and curved corners.

Display

The HP EliteBook weighs 3.4 pounds, and it is also heavier than the thin Surface pro x, which weighs 1.7 pounds without a keyboard and 2.4 pounds with a keyboard. The Spectre Folio comes at 12.6 x 9.2 x 0.6 inches, takes more space and has a larger display, the Surface Pro, which comes at an 8.2 x 11.3 x 0.28 inches.

It has a panel that reproduces up to 1119 per cent of the sRGB color gamut, which is better than most premium laptops. The HP is more luminous than most laptops, but it is not as bright as the Surface.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The HP laptop comes with a backlit keyboard, with 1.3mm of key travel, just like the Surface. For a thin laptop, the Folio is comfortable to type on. It is well-spaced, large, and gives snappy feedback while typing.

The Pro X’s keyboard is a match for the HP. Also, with a key travel of 1.3mm, you will hardly notice a difference while typing on both laptops. There was a 117-wpm accuracy while typing on the Elite Folio, just like the Surface Pro.

Both laptops came with a small Glass Touchpad that has a chemically carved surface. It enables scrolling with Two-finger, Pinch zoom, gestures with three-fingers, and rotating.

The pen that comes with the HP is just above the keyboard, it comes with an easy-to-use button, and it is essential to note that the dock, when the pen is kept, keeps it charged.

Performance

The HP and Microsoft computers are very different when it comes to performance, and the Pro X is better in performance than the Folio. The HP comes with a Core i7-8500Y and 8GB of RAM, while the Surface is built with the Microsoft octa-core SQ1 processor, and it has 8GB memory.

During a handbrake test, the Surface Pro X quickly converted a 4k clip into 1080p resolution within 30 minutes, unlike the HP that took almost an hour at converting it.

Battery

The battery life of the HP is ahead of the Surface.  Because of the low-power CPU of the Folio, and you can get over 10 hours of runtime. The Pro X is not bad because you can get up to 9 hours of runtime, which is also good. The HP fast-charge technology lets the laptop charge up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes and a full charge in 90 minutes.

Final Verdict

The HP Elite Folio review has a versatile design, and it is an excellent feel for anyone that wants to either use it as a laptop or a touch-screen tablet. The touch screen, design, chassis and usability will make it easy to use easily.
